Last Saturday, Charleston's favorite folk-rockers Cary Ann and Michael, known to rest of the world as Shovels and Rope, took their two-piece act to Newport, Rhode Island, for the legendary Newport Folk Festival.

Taking their place on the main-stage at Newport, a landmark annual event where Bob Dylan plugged in for the first time almost half a century ago, S&R ripped through a characteristically rowdy set that included the popular ballads on which they've built a strong following, with tastes from their new album, Swimmin' Time, set to be released next month.

As they did last year, NPR has posted the band's full set for your enjoyment, so go ahead and click over to take a listen.

Keep an ear out for Cary Ann's dip into Hurray for the Riff Raff's "Little Black Star" during "Save the World," one of their new tracks. By our count, there were five "Swimmin Time" songs played at Newport, but be sure to listen through the set to "Evil," which we've got a feeling you'll be hearing on the radio for a while.

Looking for more sets from Newport, check out NPR's full series of live tracks from the festival, including tracks from Ryan Adams, Jeff Tweedy, Jenny Lewis, and more.
