The Avett Brothers headlined the eighth annual First Flush Festival at Charleston Tea Plantation last week. Crowds jammed the plantation for a full day of music, food, and, yes, free tea.

Two stages of music saw support on the main stage from Lowcountry acts like Atlas Road Crew, Tyler Boone Band, and Stop Light Observations.

Folks arrived early to stake their claim on a spot near the main stage. Once we maneuvered toward the front, we were rewarded with a "no chair" zone and plenty of space to shake a leg.

Charleston's Stop Light Observations put on an energy-laden performance just before giving way to the day's biggest draw, North Carolina-darlings the Avett Brothers.

As the sun set elbow room became scarce. Charleston Tea Plantation's Bill Hall thanked everyone for attending and quickly introduced the festival's most popular headliner to date. The Avetts started off with the apply titled "At the Beach" and would continue a sandy themed set list with "If It's the Beaches." They unleashed a surprisingly raucous take on "Pretty Girl from Chile," which brought back visions of Oh What a Nightmare— the duo's pre-Avett Brothers band. Their set lasted right around two hours and included older cuts like "Color Show" and "Love Like the Movies," as well as newer tunes, "Morning Song" and "Vanity."
