You may have read about the loss of Cassie Vaughan Perkins following her fight with postpartum depression in the City Paper a few weeks ago. Now her friends and family are joining together for a benefit at the Tin Roof in her honor. On May 18 from 3 to 11 p.m., musicians including Skye Page, C.O.D.A., Lily Slay, and the 33’s will play to raise money for Cassie’s son Bronson Perkins, who lost his mother on February 7. To celebrate Cassie, everyone’s encouraged to go all out in rockabilly — her signature style and favorite music. “There was a time when you could go to any rockabilly/punk/oi/ska show in Charleston, and you would definitely see her face.,” friend and co-organizer April Candelaria tells us. Local businesses have donated silent auction goods such as tattoos, and a portion of proceeds will also benefit Postpartum Support Charleston.
