The last place you would expect to see Ghostface Killah would be at a nerdy comic book convention, right? But what about a hip-hop and comic book convention? Then the answer is yes. Last year, the one-time Wu-Tang member attended the 2nd Annual Cola-Con in famously hot Columbia, S.C. Unfortunately, Ghostface won't be at this year's convention. But plenty of other talents will be, including the Foreign Exchange and Dead Prez. The Boondocks illustrator, writer, and producer Carl Jones will also be featured during a Q&A session.

Preach Jacobs, a Capital City rapper himself, is the man behind Cola-Con, and he's done the seemingly impossible by merging the world of hip-hop and funny books. And all his hard work appears to be paying off. "We've been getting national attention this year. Nowhere else are they combining hip-hop culture and comic book culture. It's a natural fit," Jacobs says. With help from the City of Columbia, the 3rd annual Cola-Con has moved to a larger venue to accommodate the growing number of attendees and vendors.

Cola-Con takes place Oct. 25-26 in Columbia at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln St. The event runs from 12-10 p.m. daily, and admission is $20/one day, $30/two days. For more information, visit cola-con.com.
