On Fri. Aug. 16., the Tin Roof is hosting a musical evening honoring the life of the King of Rock 'n' Roll, Elvis Presley, featuring a host of the Holy City's best local musicians. Presley's beloved hits will be performed by members of the Royal Tinfoil, Flat Foot Floozies, and Elim Bolt. Lindsay Holler, Laura Jane Vincent, Cheyne Dowds, Joel Hamilton, Jordan Igoe, T. Ballard Lesemann, Danny Infinger, Jessa Vaughan, Justin Allen, and Matthew Walker will also perform. The Tin Roof has also scheduled a host of Elvis-themed fun, including a "pelvis-off," showings of the King's performances on the Ed Sullivan Show, live pompadour stylings from the ladies of Lava Salon, photo opps with a life-size Presley, Elvis frozen drink specials, and a showing of Viva Las Vegas at 7 p.m. And yes, you're encouraged to don your best tacky white jump suit and bust out your most kick-ass karate moves while licking fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches from your fat fingers. The $5 door fee will be donated to Healing Species, an organization that teaches children empathy and compassion through rescued dogs.
