The Explorers Club reforms ... sort of

Jason Brewer and the EC allstars to play July

Back in March, we were sad to hear that one of our favorite Holy City bands, the Explorers Club, had decided to call it quits. After their Beach Boys-inspired debut Freedom Wind and last year’s Burt Bacharach-meets-Herb Alpert mash-up Grand Hotel, we were wondering exactly what vintage sound Jason Brewer and the gang would tackle next. Personally, I was hoping for the baroque pop of Odessa and Trafalgar era Bee Gees, but, sadly, that was not to be.

However, we’re pleased to report that Brewer has assembled a crew to play the Fourth of July Blast at the Patriots Point. The so-called Explorers Club Allstars features Kyle Polk, Trey Cooper, James Abercrombie, Mike Williamson, Pete Schottleutner, and Clay White. “I have hand-selected some great players who have been part of Explorers Club for years,” Brewer says, adding that the band will perform songs from Grand Hotel as well as a few classic songs from the ’60s the crew has always wanted to cover.
Tickets to the Blast are $20 for adults and $10 for kids. The East Coast Party Band will also be performing, and there’ll be all the traditional Independence Day activities and diversions. For more information, visit

As for Brewer, he’s planning tackle a new project, and he also says there should be a final Explorers Club collection coming out by the end of the year.
