JAC kicks off jazz series, runs until June 7

Sixth annual series to feature Leah Suárez, Post-Cobra, Charlton Singleton, Lee Barbour and more

Last night Kevin Hackler and company kicked off the 6th annual Jazz Artists of Charleston (JAC) Jazz Series, which runs until Fri. June 7, or more or less until the end of Spoleto. The series will be held at Upstairs at 493 King Street, Ste. 200, also known as Father Figaro Hall. The first set will start at 7 p.m., and the second starts at 10 p.m. Each set will last approximately 75 minutes with the doors opening half an hour prior to each set’s start time. Seating is on a first-come first-serve basis.

Sat. May 25 — Lee Barbour: Post-Cobra
Sun. May 26 — Leah Suárez & Duda Lucena: Mas Que Nada
Wed. May 29 — Super Deluxe: Electric Herbie
Thurs. May 30 —Cameron Handel: The Happy Horns of Clark Terry
Sat. June 1 — Jamie Slater Trio feat. John Cobb: Jazz Moods
Sun. June 2 — Charlton Singleton Quintet: Contemporary Flow
Tues. June 4 — Robert Lewis & Mark Sterbank: Tenor Madness
Wed.June 5 — Charleston Latin Jazz Collective: ¡Bailamos!
Thurs. June 6 — Vintage Voices, Over the Rainbow: A Tribute to Judy Garland
Fri. June 7 — Michael Bellar & the AS-IS Ensemble: An Evening with Michael Bellar & the AS-IS Ensemble

Attendees will be able to purchase beverages during the show. Tickets are still available today for $25. JAC is a non-profit organization committed to preserving the history of jazz as well as promoting musical awareness and musical education.
