Vote for Crowfield in CBS contest

'Hootie' shoutout helps City Paper 2012 Band of the Year to top of list

People in Charleston may be huge fans of Crowfield — after all, City Paper readers selected the Americana rock group as its 2012 Rock Band of the Year — so it’s only natural that they’d want to help the band get on national television, right?

The band is currently a part of the RipTide Music Pitch Session contest. Six acts will get the chance to make a pitch to Samuel Diaz, CBS’ music supervisor. That means their music can end up on one of three primetime programs: NCIS, The Good Wife, or Blue Bloods.

While five bands will be chosen by industry experts, a sixth will move ahead because of “People’s Choice.” Currently, Crowfield is at the top of that list, after getting a big shoutout from Hootie and the Blowfish, and we’d like to help keep them there.

“Well, there’s a lot of voting to be done and a lot of time left but we’re pretty honored to see our fans have rallied us to the top,” frontman Tyler Mechem says. “It’s exciting to have a chance at this, so thank you for your support.”

The competition ends on Dec. 19, so get over to the website and put in your vote immediately.
