Local radio station 98 Rock is bringing Hoobastank to Goose Creek on Sept. 14 for a show at The Dive, a bar and music venue near the Naval Weapons Station. Hoobastank, a Southern California hard rock act, made it big in the early 2000s with the radio hit “Crawling in the Dark,” but they haven’t scored any major singles since 2004’s doleful slow jam “The Reason.”

Currently, the band has a fifth studio album, Fight or Flight, in the works. The first single, “This is Gonna Hurt,” is available as a free download on their website, and it sounds a bit more expansive and less hyperactive than the band’s early work.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for the show, and admission is $9.80. Local alt-rock act Virgil Kain will open. —Paul Bowers
