Ghoulish singer and Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper will lead his No More Mr. Nice Guy World Tour 2012 to the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on Mon. June 11.
Cooper’s musical career began more than 40 years ago. His big hits include “School’s Out,” “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “Elected,” and “I’m Eighteen.” He’s credited with creating the concept of the theatrical rock concert in the early 1970s with elaborate (and often disturbing) stagecraft, macabre special effects, and colorful showmanship.
Many fans and critics refer to his style as "shock rock" or “rock horror” in reference to his monster imagery, guillotines, decapitations, snakes, and heavy guitar riffs.
Cooper brings his whole show to the Bonnaroo Festival on June 9 before joining British metal band Iron Maiden on a summer tour of North America, which includes shows at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Charlotte. N.C. on June 21 and Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood in Atlanta, Ga., on June 23.
Cooper’s latest album, 2011’s Welcome 2 My Nightmare, is a sequel to 1975’s Welcome to My Nightmare. Tickets for the show go on sale for $55, $45, and $35 on Fri. March 16 at the Coliseum box office, ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets, and by phone at (800) 745-3000.
