North Charleston Coliseum welcomes Darius Rucker

Hootie's frontman headlines a big show in November

Charleston-based songwriter Darius Rucker is best known for his role as frontman in the top-selling South Carolina pop-rock band Hootie and the Blowfish (the band recently headlined a two-night Homegrown Concert at the Family Circle Cup Stadium), `but over the last three years, he has reinvented himself as a contemporary country crooner.

In 2008, Rucker released a country-styled solo album titled Learn to Live on Capitol Records and hit the top of the radio and sales charts. The disc earned him the New Artist Award from the Country Music Association. Last year, follow-up album Charleston, SC 1966 scored two number-one singles with "Come Back Song" and "This."

Rucker heads to the U.K. and Europe for a series of dates before returning to the States for a fall tour that brings him to the North Charleston Coliseum on Sat. Nov. 12. Country acts Justin Moore and Thompson Square are on the bill as well. Tickets go on sale for the concert at 10 a.m. on Fri.
