The weekly outdoor concerts kick off on Fri. April 1 at the Charleston Harbor Resort in Mt. Pleasant with two sets from the award-winning, long-running local party band PlaneJane. Music starts around 6 p.m. in the Sunset Deck area. The series continues through late July.
Organizer Rob Lamble (of Ear for Music) and his colleagues added new amenities to the venue to provide a more patron-friendly environment. They celebrated their 10th anniversary season last summer.
The spring and summer lineup reflects a ton of alternative and classic rock, funk, reggae, and beach styles. Upcoming shows feature sets from Long Miles, Ben Fagan and the Holy City Hooligans, Crowfield, Dub Island and the Dubplates, the Movement, and the Legendary JC’s, among others.

Nearly two years in the making, Charleston rock band Leslie’s new full-length studio album Lord, Have Mercy is finally ready for a proper release.
Singer/guitarist Sadler Vaden, drummer Jonathan Carman, and bassist Jason Fox began working on the album in late 2009 at Ardent Studios in Memphis with producer Paul Ebersold at the helm. They completed the final mixes and mastering in 2010. After negotiating with a handful of record labels, they decided to put Lord, Have Mercy out independently in April. They raised funds to manufacture CDs through a Kickstarter campaign over the winter.
“I think the album is defining,” Vaden told City Paper during an interview this week. “We’ve been through a lot. We know where we are now, and we know where we’re going. It’s a more mature sound. It’s more developed and better thought out. We spend more time with the songs. I think we made a record that will withstand the test of time.”
The band performs the CD release show at the Music Farm on Fri. April 15. The Bridge at 105.5 is currently playing “Shine a Light,” the first single off of Lord, Have Mercy. Leslie’s already working on booking spring and summer tours.
“One of our big goals is to put out an additional collection by the end of the year — either an other full-length or an EP,” says Fox of the band’s plans for 2011. “And we definitely want to do some heavy touring. From a lot of people’s standpoint in Charleston, we’ve been a band for six years and we’ve put music out and all that, but in the big picture, this is the beginning of our career.”

Elvis Costello and the Imposters are solid for a show at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on Mon. July 18. Tickets go on sale on Fri. March 25 at 10 a.m.
Born and raised in London, Costello’s released his first solo record, My Aim is True, in 1977, just before assembling his first band, the Attractions. He quickly emerged as one of the most innovative and influential pop songwriters of the New Wave/punk era. He worked on dozens of solo and collaborative music and film projects through the 1980s, '90s, and 2000s. Costello and the Imposters released their last studio album, Momofuku, on Lost Highway in 2008.
Costello and the Imposters head out for two weeks of dates in May across the U.S. with the Spectacular Spinning Songbook, a monumental game-show-type wheel that features 40 song titles, including hits, rarities, and covers. It’s the first time in 25 years Costello will let most of his set list be chosen by audience members who get invited on stage to spin the wheel. Word has it that the July concert at the PAC will feature the big wheel as well.

Bentley is currently working on material for his next studio album, the follow-up to the recent disc Up on the Ridge, which recently received three Grammy nominations
“It’s a good thing we’ve got a video crew on the road with us capturing everything that goes down,” Bentley said in recent press release. “Putting my band, Josh Thompson, the Miss Willie Brown girls, and a few thousand fans in a Jägermeister-sponsored room with loud country music sounds like a pretty solid recipe for a great night.”
