Tickle Switch
If you appreciate the blues-rock sounds of bands like the Black Keys and Tom Waits, then up-and-coming Charleston trio Tickle Switch is for you.

The band consists of lead guitarist/vocalist Mackie Boles (also of the Royal Tinfoil), drummer Marshall Hudson, and bassist Bandi Tomascheck. The guys like to keep things simple, but their gritty playing and Boles’ smoky voice will keep any place moving.

To celebrate the release of their debut, a six-song EP tiled Oopsie, the band is kicking off their countrywide tour in Charleston. Recorded locally, Oopsie carries the weight of the band’s energetic live performances. The disc will be for sale at Tickle Switch’s live performances, and it’s available for download at tickleswitch.bandcamp.com.

They perform at the Tin Roof on Thurs. Feb. 3 before embarking on a five-week tour through the Carolinas and out to Texas and back. Their homecoming gig is set for Sat. March 12 at the Tin Roof. For more information, visit myspace.com/tickleswitch. —Cullen Lea
