After 12 years on Lucas Street alongside Shem Creek, store owner Mike Poirier has moved his Mt. Pleasant Music store to the foot of the Arthur Ravenel Bridge, just past the BMW dealership along the frontage road in front of Whole Foods (918 Lansing Drive, Unit F).

“I’ve been looking to change things up for awhile,” says Poirier, adding that the more spacious new digs will allow him to meet the growing demand from his instrument repair clients.

The new store features a room exclusively for acoustic guitars, including a couch where guitarists can get comfortable with the dreadnaught they’ve been dreaming about, as well as two private rooms for lessons and practice. Poirier says the convenience to downtown has already brought new customers. What is he most excited about? More space to work on his budding custom guitar-building business.
