4362/1239916438-john_legend_resized.jpg Another “major concert announcement” just in (the folks at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center are on a roll this week). Neo-Soul/R&B vocalist and pianist John Legend and special guest India.Arie will perform on Sat. July 18 at 7:30 p.m. 9846/1239916462-india.arie.jpg

Tickets go on sale for $66 on Sat. April 25 via the box office, Ticketmaster outlets, or by phone at (843) 554-6060.

A native of Ohio, Legend got his start as a professional musician while attending college in Philadelphia in the late ’90s. He played piano on Lauryn Hill’s “Everything Is Everything” in 1998 before relocating to N.Y.C., where he became an in-demand session musician. Kanye West signed Legend to his new label in 2004. Legend’s first studio album, Get Lifted, reached Billboard’s Top 5 and featured the single “Ordinary People.” His latest album, Evolver, is a modernized blend of reggae, pop, and soul.

India.Arie recently kicked off her 2009 Soulbird Tour in support of a new album titled Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics (Soulbird Music/Universal Republic).
