In a news blurb in last week’s A La Carte, we incorrectly reported that the newly-constructed, soon-to-be-opened sports bar and entertainment venue Abe’s Oyster House (713 Coleman Blvd.) co-owner Art Martin was currently affiliated with bar and music venue Art’s Bar & Grill (413 Coleman Blvd.).

Although he ran the place years ago (after it was under the name Acme Bar & Grill), Martin has actually not been affiliated with Art’s Bar & Grill since selling the business to current proprietor Kent Fritz in 2002. Fritz says he’s very proud of turning the business around to be profitable and consistent offering lunch and dinner and free live music daily for nearly seven years.

Abe’s Oyster House is set to open this week. The listing in City Paper — and the word-of-mouth among bargoers in East Cooper — led to even more confusion over a possible connection between the two businesses.

Last weekend, Fritz actually placed a banner on his deck railing facing Coleman Boulevard that read, “We are NOT associated in any way with the business going into the Luna Rossa building, Thank you.”

Hopefully, the confusion will be clarified this week.
