In a bold move, busy local rock trio Leslie announced a five-night residency at the Village Tavern. Lead singer/guitarist Sadler Vaden, drummer Jonathan Carmen, and bassist Jason Fox will headline with different openers every night, from Tues. April 8 through Sat. April 12. Every show is free-of-charge and all-ages. They’re calling the event “Move for a Change.”

“Every night there will be a different charity showcased, and we’ll be helping to raise money through raffles, drink specials, and other fund-raising ideas,” manager Josh Terry (of Aware Records/A-Squared Management) told City Paper this week. “The concept of this show came together a few months ago, building off the success of last year’s Scarlet Vaden Memorial Concert at The Music Farm, which benefitted Sadler and his sister, Lauren, immediately after the passing of their mother from her battle with breast cancer.

Leslie decided this year they wanted to do a similar concept in a smaller location & at the room that gave them their first few breaks in Charleston, the Village Tavern, and instead of just doing one night, blow it up and do five nights in-a-row, and really try to make a difference for these charities.”

Could this be the trio’s reenactment of The Clash’s infamous 17-night residency at the Bond’s Casino concert hall in New York in May and June, 1981? Originally, the club booked The Clash for a solid week, but shitty/greedy promoters blatantly oversold tickets to the series. To honor every ticket-holder, the band extended the residency to grueling 17 dates in-a-row. (A bootleg of the June 9, 1981 show was recorded and released under the title Live at Bond’s). Actually we bet it’ll go off with barely any trouble. Here’s the schedule:

Tues. April 8 — Leslie w/ All Get Out, special guests

Wed. April 9 — Leslie w/ Lindsay Holler & The Dirty Kids, Crowfield

Thur. April 10 — Leslie (full band acoustic) w/ Jay Clifford, Owen Beverly

Fri. April 11 — Leslie w/ Cary Ann Hearst & The Gun Street Girls, Firework Show

Sat. April 12 — Leslie w/ Red Handed, Action City Blackout
