Missing Linc Reunion on Folly

Posted by T. Ballard Lesemann on Mon, Aug 20, 2007 at 12:56 PM

Old-school local music fans out on the Folly Island/James Island side of the scene surely remember the long-running bar ban Missing Linc — a melodic, guitar-driven combo fronted by singer/guitarist Jeannie Wiggins, who still plays regularly on the circuit. Wiggins, lead guitarist Wesley Williamson, drummer Kevin Smith, and bassist Jim Richter reconvene for a weekend of rock this Fri. Aug. 24 and Sat. Aug. 25 at the Sand Dollar (7 Center St., 588-9498).

“We’ll play a lot of our old originals, many of which we recorded for the album Life’s a Mystery,” says Wiggins The eight-song collection of power anthems, love songs, and guitar-flash rockers was recorded by engineer Robert Graves at the On Line Audio facility in Charleston and released on cassette in 1990.

Missing Linc formed in Charleston in 1984 and played as a quartet and quintet (occasionally with keyboardist Tim Cooney and third guitarist Brian Lawson) through 1995. That’s them back in the day (top) and presently (bottom).

“We’ll do a lot of the ’70s and ’80s rock covers we used to play as well — stuff by Boston, The Producers, Bad Company, and others,” says Wiggins. “It’ll be fun.”
