Austin, Texas indie-rock band Spoon’s new LP Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (Merge) hit the stores this week. Thumbs up to singer/guitarist/keyboardist Brit Daniel, drummer/studio engineer Jim Eno, and the gang — it’s inspiring stuff.

Spoon are set to perform in N.Y.C. tonight (Wed. July 11) on the

Late Show with David Letterman (their publicists say they’ll pound a rendition of The Underdog” off the new disc.). Hot damn.

The band wind their way across the West Coast and Europe this summer and have only a few shows scheduled in the Deep South in the fall so far:

Wed. Oct. 24 in Asheville, N.C. — The Orange Peel

Fri. Oct. 26 in Nasvhille, Tenn. — Cannery Ballroom

Sat. Oct. 27 in New Orleans — Voodoo Festival

Come on, booking agents: Spoon fans in the Lowcountry are waiting for their own close encounter!
