Charleston Wine + Food Festival has announced the departure of Cathryn Zommer, director of communications. The 10th anniversary festival was Zommer’s first in the role.

In a statement the festival’s Executive Director Gillian Zettler says, “Cathryn has been given an amazing opportunity to work with a burgeoning, local non-profit that completely speaks to her passions. We can’t help but be thrilled that she has found this amazing new adventure and are so thankful for the time, energy, and spirit she poured into the success of our 10th anniversary celebration. Many times it is said, but I truly can’t say enough about her willingness to make the transition as seamless as possible.”

Zommer — a veteran communications professional as well as documentary filmmaker (she directed Fully Awake: Black Mountain College (2008) — will take over as executive director of arts organization Enough Pie. The role of festival director of communications has already been filled, and Zommer will help train her replacement.

“It was a truly meaningful experience to work on the 10th anniversary of Charleston Wine + Food,” says Zommer in an email. “I am honored to have been a part of the team. I will take with me many fond memories and unique culinary experiences as I step into my new role as executive director of Enough Pie, a non-profit devoted to creative programming and community development in the upper peninsula. I look forward to attending next year’s festival and wish the team every success!”
