Farm to table, for real

Now that he's got one good review
under his belt, Thompson is branching out with a series of farm dinners. The first one is set to take place May 4 at Walters Farm, which is run by his childhood friend Stephen Walter, who grows almost exclusively for Thompson and delivers fresh produce to the restaurant himself.
The dinner costs $75 and begins with a cocktail reception at 5:30 followed by a family-style sit-down dinner. Tickets can be purchased through Charleston Culinary Tours
, which is co-producing the event.
Stephen Thompson first made a name for himself in the most unlikeliest of places — a dance club called Mercury Bar. Toiling away in a tiny kitchen, he impressed diners with his flair for farm-to-table dishes and plates like the duck hash at brunch. New owners transformed Mercury into Prohibition, a much more diner-friendly place, and expanded the kitchen so Thompson had more space to work his magic.
