Yes, dear reader, I've been neglecting you. I have failed to fill you in on the glories of Brown's Court Bakery, a newish place on St. Philip Street that opened in the old Hope + Union in November. Perhaps I was hoping to keep this place to myself, but this town's too small for that.

I first stopped in here back in December and loaded up on a ton of bread. My kids are devoted baguette connoisseurs, and Brown's Court impressed their little baby palates (and big mama's palate too). Is there anything in the world better than a warm baguette fresh from the oven? Oh, I don't think so.

Brown's Court's head baker David Schnell turns out a wide selection of breads, pastries, and cookies too. The boxes in the window hold glorious little discoveries like a Pluff Mud Porter Pretzel roll. Say what?!

On the counter are plates of sticky buns, sriracha croissants, and bacon scones, which pair quite nicely with a fancy little coffee.

Happy hour is from 5-7 p.m. where you can find discounted baked goods. Stop by on your way home from work and load up. For more NSFW food porn, visit their website. When your keyboard is full of drool, don't say we didn't warn you.
