Raul’s in North Charleston is introducing Sunday brunch this weekend (June 10).
The authentic menu features some interesting variations on both the Mexican and the brunch theme. First, there are lots of chilaquiles, a staple Mexican breakfast item — think leftover tortillas smothered in so much cheese and sauce that it becomes a gooey mess of awesome. You can get them with huevos or steak at Raul’s.
The menu also has that old standby, huevos rancheros, in addition to both savory and sweet tamales. The sweet ones are made with almond extract mixed with the masa flour and stuffed with bourbon cream, quite different from your average tamale. The menu says tamales will only be available on the second Sunday of the month.
Rosemary pancakes and chorizo round out the offerings, which range in price from $6.99-$10.99. Brunch runs from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. this Sunday.
