Got a hankering for a coddled egg or some beef tartare from FIG? Well, you better get on it. The restaurant will be shutting its doors so they can do some renovations.
Essentially, Adam Nemirow says they'll be freshening everything up, getting the restaurant ready for the next ten years. The biggest change will be the installation of wood floors and new banquettes. They'll put some fresh paint on the walls and update the ancient bathrooms.
What to do about the artwork on the walls is currently up for discussion. Nemirow says they are talking to John Duckworth, whose paintings are currently featured on the walls, about what to do next. Duckworth rotates new canvases in and out every few months, as a way to keep the walls from feeling stagnant, but they're not sure what direction they'll go in next. They do know that all the other doo-dads hanging on the walls will be removed for good (no more sunburst mirrors).
The restaurant will close this Sunday, Jan. 8 and reopen Mon. Jan. 16.
