It's a Txakoli Block Party at the Cocktail Club

Rain rain go away

In case you didn't score tickets to the Ultimate Critics Dinner tonight ($300 at Fort Sumter — thunderclouds looming), you should make plans to attend the Txakoli Block Party at the Cocktail Club on King Street. Txakoli is a frothy, effervescent wine from Spain that's delivered (most authentically) via a porron. What's a porron, you ask? It's essentially a wine bong, and wine bongs are fun.

I attended a Txacoli party a couple years ago, and it roamed from Fuel to Coast to Chai's. I'm pretty sure one happened last year too. They tend to crop up unexpectedly at the last minute, which is a shame, because more people should know and love Txakoli.

From 6-9 p.m. tonight, the Cocktail Club will have a suckling roasted pig on their upper deck patio with grilled local shrimp, octopus ceviche, and grilled chicken drumettes with basque ketchup for $12 (all you can eat). The Txakoli will be half off too.

The Cocktail Club is located next door to O-Ku at 479 King St. I wish I'd be seeing you there, but I'll be boarding a boat to Fort Sumter to partake of the critics dinner. Check back for the recap tomorrow (after I sleep off the wine). And let's hope for both events that the rain holds off.
