If you saw Jennifer Ervin’s January show, which consisted of family vacation photos shot on a Polaroid, you know just how surprising her photography is. You’d think that family vacation photos would be trite and that use of a Polaroid camera would be too suburban-hipster-trendy to be produce work of quality. But you would be wrong on both accounts.

Ervin’s observant eye gleans an appreciation for things that usually go unnoticed. Her new exhibit, Land & Family, is showcasing now at the Charleston Center for Photography on Upper King (654 King St., 843-720-3105). It’s part of her The Land 100 Series and will hang until early July.
