Holy City Shakespeare to join Royal Shakespeare Co. for experimental Dream

Dream a little dream

This must be the year of A Midsummer Night's Dream, because in addition to the many adaptations taking place at festivals around the U.S. this summer (including, of course, Bristol Old Vic's puppet version that played during Spoleto to mixed reviews), the U.K.'s Royal Shakespeare Company is producing an experimental, online project called A Midsummer Night's Dreaming. The project will involve both a live performance in Stratford-upon-Avon during midsummer weekend, June 21-23, as well as multiple online components like blogs, forums, and more.

It's a little confusing, but this video helps explain it.

Holy City Shakespeare's founder and co-artistic director Laura Rose has been invited to take part in the live events, which culminate in a wedding celebration for Theseus and Hippolyta on Sunday, June 23. Rose is an actor, teacher, and director who is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon. In the spirit of the action, Rose will be sharing her experiences online on Holy City Shakespeare's Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ accounts.

To follow the project, all you need is the hashtag #dream40. You can learn more on the #dream40 website.
