After converting the dark alleys of Avondale into Technicolor, the ChART Outdoor Initiative is making some changes in North Charleston’s Park Circle neighborhood.

Park Circle-based realtor Thea Anderson approached ChART founder Geoff Richardson about bringing the project to North Charleston, and he encouraged her to take on the new branch herself. A few murals have already been completed, including pieces by Patch Whisky, Molly Rose Freeman, and Ishmael on a building at 4845 Chateau Ave. off of East Montague.

Anderson says it’s been difficult finding property owners willing to allow their buildings to be used as a canvas, but she hopes that when they see the works that have been created so far, they’ll warm up to the idea. “I’m hoping they’ll realize, ‘OK, it’s not graffiti. These are actually amazingly talented artists,’” Anderson says.

In the works are additional murals by Sean Williams, Haley Hobieska, Douglas Panzone, Ben Sellers, Thomas Sweeney, and Mollie Howey. Anderson says they’re still looking for sponsorships and volunteers. The tentative date for the first Park Circle ChART Walk is April 15. Find out more at facebook.com/chart.gallery.
