Happy September, folks. Go out and enjoy some art in celebration of the coming demise of summer. Here's what you'll see:


We Carry These Memories Inside of We is at the Avery Center with a reception Thurs. Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. It's a juried art exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of Julie Dash's film Daughters of the Dust.


Ginny Versteegen and Faye Sullivan present the September show at North Charleston's City Gallery. The opening is Thurs. Sept. 1 from 5-7 p.m.


Deidre Black is at Ellis-Nicholson Gallery with My Eyes' Mind, which opens Friday, 5-8 p.m.


Mary Martin Gallery presents Jeff Fitzharris' tribute to Alfonse Mucha, the father of Art Nouveau, with a reception Friday from 5-8 p.m.


New York artist Ryan Cronin returns to SCOOP for his third solo show, which opens Fri. Sept. 2, 5-8 p.m.


Robert Lange presents JB Boyd's solo show with a reception Friday from 5-8 p.m.


Michelle Dunaway is at M Gallery of Fine Art with alla prima studies, drawings, larger studio works, portraits, and still lifes. The opening is Friday from 5-8 p.m.


Rock Hill-based artist Wanda Steppe peppers realism with fantastical elements at Martin Gallery. Opening reception Friday, 5-8 p.m.
