Michael and Olga Wise take over Robert Ivey Ballet

A Wise Move

Posted by Erica Jackson Curran on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM

Though Robert Ivey passed away last month, the companies that he founded will live on. Michael and Olga Wise were recently named as the new artistic directors of Robert Ivey Ballet and the owners of the Charleston Dance Studio. Both were close friends of Ivey, and the plan to continue following the traditions that the choreographer set forth. Michael, a native of Charleston, worked as a principal dancer with the Moscow Classical Ballet as well as several other companies. He’s been teaching and choreographing for the past 20 years. Olga is from Moscow, where she graduated from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy. She also has taught for the last 20 years, including a stint at Robert Ivey Ballet. Stop by the studio on Fri. Aug. 26 from 6-8 p.m. to meet the Wises and the teaching staff. Call (843) 556-1343 or view robertiveyballet.net for more.
