Zwack Attack is Back, Jack

Posted by Erica Jackson on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 11:34 AM

The "national shot of Hungary" will make its debut in Charleston on Friday Nov. 21. Here's some info from the press release:

"According to legend, the drink was initially presented by an ancestor of Zwack founder József Zwack to Kaiser Joseph II of Austria, who proclaimed "Das ist ein Unikum!" ("This is unique!"). The liqueur is today produced by Zwack according to a secret formula including more than 40 herbs and aged in oak casks. During the Communist regime in Hungary, Unicum was produced by a different formula. After the fall of communism, Péter Zwack returned to Hungary and resumed the production of the original Unicum.

Recently Zwack has also launched Unicum Next, a thinner-bodied drink which is more cherry flavored in character. Unicum is regarded as the national drink of Hungary; many restaurants and bars will offer it as a free after-dinner shot."

Head to Mellow Mushroom from 10-11 p.m. to sample a Zwack Attack (Zwack and Red Bull), and meet the sexy ladies of Zwack. After that, try it at Purple Tree Lounge from 11:30 p.m.-12:30a.m., or Wasabi from 12:45-1:45 a.m. On Saturday from 5-8 p.m. the Zwack women will be partying at the FUEL Block Party to help raise money for The Dee Norton Children's Center.
