Green Cocktail Party Pics

Thursday night green-minded and -garbed folks gathered at the S.C. Aquarium for a cocktail party celebrating sustainability. Glowing green paper bags lit the path up to the entrance, where an open bar greeted guests, featuring goodies like an absinthe-flavored cocktail and beer from Thomas Creek, a microbrewery in the Upstate. Once inside, the Kevin Hackler Quartet got things swingin’ early with some cool jazz, while guests strolled among the fish tanks, chomping on small plates from local restaurants. Did I feel a little guilty eating all that halibut, wreckfish, and shrimp while the fish stared me down? Only a little bit. But the tastiest morsel of the night (maybe because of the low guilt factor) might have been the caramel corn ice cream and chocolate cake from Huck’s Lowcountry Table. Urban developer Vince Graham and Georgia Malki, president of Seven Star Events, spoke about living green. This caused half of the crowd to gather round and listen intently, while the other half braved the chill and drizzle and headed back out to the bar. It may not always be easy to be green, but it can definitely be fun. Check out the full gallery here.
